Exactly as described HornetGek X2 Unit.

Only fits 3TB but that's all I needed as I had two Toshiba 3TB 7200rpm hard drives that didn't do anything. I set it up in RAID 1, did a mirror and had no problems for 4 months. The quality seems good and the price was really good. The M.2 VIA Technology NVMe SSD has a sustained read/write speed of 170MB/s and 150MB/s for a 33GB file. My NAS is only about 8MB/s.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed

  • Loose

Hard Drive Killer for Computers and Accessories

I've had this case for a while now and it has cost me a lot more money than it did on its own. It killed 2 hard drives that I had to replace. It was always one of two in a given slot. For months I have noticed that this drive keeps disconnecting and I have had to reboot the case. The other drive stayed connected. Then the hard drive failed completely. I swapped them out and a few days later the new hard drive blew out again! - a kind of fried click, can not be restored. I lost data, I lostโ€ฆ

Good price in the Computers and Accessories section

Honestly, this isn't a bad bay for two hard drives. The built-in raid controller allows you to disable the raid so that both individual drives appear separately. High transmission speed and beautiful appearance. The blue LED on the front illuminates a dark room, so don't expect it to be difficult to see during the day, but it can be distracting in low light. The fit and finish feel a bit below average. The screw holes were slightly offset, causing the case to be uneven at the junction with theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Loud fan but otherwise great product!

The fan is very loud. I'm currently using it without the fan on. Time will tell if it works without a fan. Otherwise a very good case for my 2 x 3TB hard drives! UPDATE: A hard drive is not working. Swapped two hard drives, the second doesn't work. The side of the hull that works also begins to fail. Very disappointed.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No power

Not the fastest

I installed this with two 3TB drives left over from replacing my NAS. I had a third drive that I installed in the same outer case. Transfer (write) speeds seemed subjectively about 25% slower than a single drive in an external enclosure, regardless of the mode selected, leading me to believe the internal controller is a bit slow. This would be a suitable backup drive or shared storage. I prefer to set up backups as RAID1 devices for redundancy and this supports RAID1 along with RAID0, JBOD andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Not exactly what I expected, but it worked.

According to the description, it should only work with hard drives up to 3 TB. This wasn't a problem as I'm using 2 x 3TB hard drives that I already had. However, I did get an X2-U3 II that claims to be able to support hard drives up to 10TB. So maybe I have a newer version. Interestingly, HornetTek doesn't even list this model on their website. only one problem No matter how I toggle the DIP switches, it always works as usual and shows up as 2 separate physical volumes. And yes, I did holdโ€ฆ

Good economical USB raid solution

I've had one of these for a few years and it's absolutely reliable. So when I needed another one I was happy to see that the same model was still available. Other reviews mentioned fan noise, but since I already had one, I figured those people were just more sensitive to noise than I am. I always have music on and I never notice the fan in the one I already have. When I lit the new one, I was surprised to find that it is noticeably louder than my previous one.
