Successful build. Best single board computer

This kit is used to create a digital ham radio voice access point. To complete the build you will also need to purchase a Raspberry Pi Zero board (preferably with the headers already installed) and a micro SD card. My kit had all the parts needed to complete the build in under half an hour and when powered on it worked the first time. I would like to warn you that the written instructions that come with this kit are pretty much useless, but there are plenty of good YouTube videos to guide you…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Doesn't work on FM - UPDATED

Will not transmit or receive on FM. I've been a radio engineer for 4 decades. I have lab equipment to test this. Does not work on FM. It works great on UHF and 900 ham radio bands. I have an NXDN VHF and this is a disappointment as I bought two. Email was answered quickly but still awaiting resolution to make it work on VHF. If not I will be returning them via Amazon shortly. The seller responded fairly quickly and identified the problem. He sends me a new board from the factory that is updated

Works well good for computer components

I bought this and added it to my Raspberry Pi Zero + Wireless. The instructions aren't very clear, but once you turn it on, you'll need to use a computer with Wi-Fi (not your desktop if it doesn't have Wi-Fi) and log into the device at the given IP address. You can then configure for your network. I forgot that if you are using a "hidden" network, you need to make the network visible so the Pi can see it. Configuration was easy, although it did require some google searches and reading a few…

me or not me? suitable for single-board computers

An amateur friend persuaded me to buy a similar (same?) product in another store and save 40% on the cost, but it came directly from China and had delivery 4 -6 weeks. I bought it and am glad I did as I received it in two days and my DMR radio was on air the next day. Sure, I'd rather pay around $43, but price isn't everything. As another buyer noted, there are no instructions, but they are not needed. A licensed radio operator is expected to have some skill and knowledge of the kit before…

Works great on RPi 3B+ and PiStar 4.1 RC7

I was also a little concerned at first about the lack of offset data and device type information (it's actually printed on the board) , but as I continued with my project I found that the offset was actually zero and with 3B+ I had to use the latest PiStar beta and get a little creative with the editing. I reached out to SHY and the response was almost immediate and very informative. Anyone can sell parts. Customer service matters. I love it so much I will be buying another one soon and using…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

Does exactly what it should.

I have mine to play with while I recover from disc replacement surgery. I figured it would take some time to get everything set up and give me something to do for a few weeks while I recover. Not correct. It took maybe 3 hours for the network to work properly. I made contacts that first evening, including in the UK (from Alabama). I turned it off, assuming it would have to rest in the morning. Wrong again. I turned it on and it just started working. I did this in my car using my phone as a…
