This worked fine for the first pair of boots. It broke when tightening on the second pair of boots. The shaft you turn to tighten and expand the stretcher fits into a universal joint, which enables this to work on a pair of boots rather than just shoes. There is a small pin that goes through the u-joint fitting and secures it to the shaft. That pin broke when I was tightening the stretcher. Now the shaft just spins in the u-joint.

I used this to give me a little more comfort in my boots. It is easy to use; just put it into boot and turn the rod until it’s very snug. I left it in for at least 24 hours. Actually gave me the little bit of stretch that was needed for better comfort. I do wonder if the stretch spray (sold also on Walmart) would help to do the job quicker and better.

Item I received was used, not new, as evidenced by smudges on spreader from previous use, condition of box (ripped in several places inside the box) and non-functioning screw handle. It's well made. I have a pair of size 11 dress shoes and it worked great.I have a pair of size 11 Dr Martens that needed a little stretch, and was actually why I bought the tool.I should have gotten the next size up.I have to go to the tools maximum use with the nubs. So on my shoes good, boots not good. So I have to decide if i get the next size up which sucks, or sell the boots.If it had done the boots I would be at 5 stars.Also put a little lub on the screw it helps.

Even though my boots were from the same manufacturer as a previous set which I had worn for years they broke in differently. So I needed a boot stretcher to remove a pressure point. My husband has a bone rebar his big toes in his right foot and a new pair of timberlands was too tight so I order his shoe stretch and it did the trick recommend stretching for a day then trying in and stretch another day that did the trick. The stretcher was purchased to widen the toe box of ice skate boots. It differs from the usual application because the boots were made of a PVC type material and were not leather. I had to modify it with a couple of more holes so that it would stretch my boots where I needed them stretched, but that was very easy. A word of caution: The process of stretching leather must be done slowly (a little isopropyl alcohol helps, but use it sparingly). The boot stretcher works by a screw rod pushing a metal wedge down a wooden channel carved on the inside of both wooden pieces.
