1. The first one I took out of the bag was squashed like it had been moved. The nylon ends did not line up when the clamp was released. The spring is not aligned to compress properly. 2. After inspecting all 8 clamps, I found that half of them had knife cuts in the rubber parts (handle and clamps). All had oil marks and scuffs as if they had been used before. From previous use, it looks like some of them have been corrupted.

These clamps arrived used in the box as if they had just been taken off the desk. They were advertised as new but were clearly used. On some of them the old barcode is worn out; They had cuts, scrapes and handles from someone who had used them before. The product description says the collapse is 3 inches open. It's just not true. The end of the clamps opened 2 1/2 inches. The grip portion of the clamp was only 2 1/4 inches apart. Very disappointed with the clips and accommodations.

They are very durable. We were looking for clips to attach our pool cover to our Intex pool which is 15ft wide and 48" deep, the bars around the top are about 5" round and they work great for attaching the pool cover! They are also great for attaching a hose to a pool fill ladder! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the orange grips covering the tops slip off easily, which didn't happen when we used it on the pool cover but did when we used it around nailing the hose to the pool

Update - 1 year later (2020) - 1st photo last winter, 2nd photo April 20th, we haven't had to touch the lid since we closed it this fall, these clips are very good, wind gusts of 80km/ h today. and don't worry they will last, highly recommended. 2019 - I bought these to protect my above ground pool cover. This is an updated review when I first received these clamps. I recently purchased these clips for $14.92. At first I thought that for eight clips that was a fair price for some decent clips. Two have already broken since they were used and it is now much more obvious that they are not very well made. I also noticed that the price was slowly increasing and was $18.92 at the time of review. You should look elsewhere for hand clamps and not bother with them. UPDATE: Another (third) broke today. I
