This chest is mainly used by the bed to store some of the extra books and artwork that have been cluttering up my boudoir lately. Also, it's a useful "stand" for my old cat when she wants to jump up at 5am and demand breakfast without her jumping up and down in the air and dragging herself awkwardly into my room to avoid scratching me to annoy duvet while she turns. I love this suitcase despite its flaws. What are the disadvantages? Well, the strip of metal is very uneven and sharp where it meets the wood. The top is too "problematic" for my taste. It has a slightly whimsical old wood smell mixed with a chemical smell that doesn't seem to dissipate even after a month. And for the price, it really isn't the most durable. Very nice decorative wooden box. We have a TV above the fireplace and needed to run cable and power up from the side of the fireplace. There is a basket on top of this box to hide cables, power cords and the like. I was ready to be disappointed when I brought the bag in - it's lighter than I expected. However, it turns out that part of that lightness is due to the metal - either tin or aluminum I'd say. I spent hours trying to find a box by the door to throw our shoes in. I tried one but it was so thin it broke when I took it out of the box. That's just out of the box. Pros: Looks decent, stronger than others I've tried after removing the piano hinge that allowed it to open at different heights - see below, worked great. Overall I am satisfied and would buy another one. Defects. Not so durable that you can throw tools, drills etc etc. Ideal for clothes, small toys, shoes, etc. It costs nothing
