Bad hit on 3rd party motherboards. Tried using this RAID card on two different motherboards. My Gigabyte motherboard worked fine, but my Asus motherboard tried to start HP Smart Array during POST and kept rebooting. This is a common problem with this controller, detailed on several forums I've checked. I could downgrade the firmware, but that would make it impossible to use hard drives larger than 2TB. This controller also gets very hot.

Pros
  • feels good
Cons
  • something else

Good card for the price

Old RAID card but still does the job. This card was designed for use with HP servers, but you can use it with other motherboards as well. I would do a little research before buying. I use it in Biostar AM1MHP with new AMD AM1 processors. All these motherboards for AM1 seem to only have 2 SATA ports. I needed more for a low power NAS. With some map updates it's pretty quick.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Not the best

Shipped quickly and exactly as described. Needs.

Delivered quickly and exactly as described. However, a license code is required for full functionality. I don't use Raid 6 so I'm not too worried about it being on a home server.

Pros
  • Excellent workmanship
Cons
  • Exchange possible
