Great all-in-one solution to convert VHS to DVD

If you have VHS tapes and want to convert them to DVD, this device is the all-in-one solution for you. For years I had a stack of camcorder tapes that I wanted to burn to DVD. It always seemed too intimidating - I needed a DVD burner, a FireWire interface, an analog to digital converter, etc. HP offers a DC5000 DVD movie burner that not only burns video on a PC, but also provides editing tools and then burn DVD. Since it is an external device, all you have to do is plug the device into the wall

ArcSoft is the worst customer support I've ever experienced

I bought this unit from Best Buy when I was new to DVD/Video recording. After everything was installed, I made sure there was 10GB on the hard drive, put the DVD-R in the drive, plugged in the camcorder and that's it - the wizard started moving things around. Since it seemed slow, I turned to other things and checked their progress from time to time. Everything seemed to be working pretty well until – oh, there wasn't anything else on the screen. I have no idea what happened but I just bought a

Disappointment good for computer components

I bought this DVD burner about 3 weeks ago and have been trying to get it working ever since. The software is not compatible with any media software that I have. I have a Pentium 4(2.4)512MB with enough disk space. I am using Windows XP. I only managed to get it working temporarily only to find another problem after a reboot. It seems ridiculous to pay money for a DVD burner and then spend hours trying to get it to do what it was supposed to do in the first place! As far as I know, HP has let…

Works great as a DVD recorder/copier. How to record videos

I bought this from Best Buy (local return and no problem) after trying Dazzle DC 80 and Pinnacle Studio 9 Movie Box USB (both devices are waste of money!) I wanted to transfer my Hi8 video my 11 month old daughter on DVD for grandparents in other states. If it works, the plan is to transfer Hi8 recordings from vacations, etc. (wife loves watching all the old videos.) The software installs quickly and easily, and the computer (specially built with Celeron 1.2MHz - ever according to system…

Disappointing experience

I bought this DVD burner to convert all my mini DV movies to DVD format. The installation was successful on the first try. I hooked up my camcorder to load a movie and it seemed to work fine until it suddenly stopped after about 15 minutes. I tried restarting the download but couldn't start it, the DVD ejected automatically when I tried this. I restarted my computer and tried again, this time the download finished after about 2 minutes. I tried to reinstall the software and at that time it…

Works FANTASTIC: Internal CD and DVD drives

I've read a lot of negative reviews. But I went ahead and bought it anyway. I'm very glad I did. That works great! No problem. So far I've transferred 2 home videos to DVD with no problems. The only thing I don't like is the lack of an on/off button. The device stays on as long as it is connected to the network. I usually unplug it from the device. Whenever I need to use it, I plug it in before turning on the PC. Then I plug in the USB cable and work. My wife and I both agree that this is one…

Great product, but you MUST meet the system requirements.

I was a little apprehensive about purchasing this item after reading the negative reviews, after all it costs $200. After a long search I decided on the product. Initially, my machine didn't recognize the hardware and just shut down randomly, but after I inserted the included installation CD everything was fine. To copy a home video, just press the button on the device or click the icon on the desktop. You then have the option of using HP's Quick Transfer Wizard, which lets you choose a theme…
