This product was easy and quick to install. The included software is great but feels overkill (you have to install about 4 programs, each serving a different but sometimes useful purpose). A major downside is that USB is about 3 inches long. What the heck do you do with a 3 inch USB? If you ordered this DVD drive, connected it to your laptop and it was recognized but not the inserted DVD but did play the CD, please wait before returning it. Go to Control Panel and select "My Computer". If it shows your DVD drive and DVD name, that means it is compatible with your computer and WORKS. That's the problem. The only negative (You've already heard dozens of times from other reviewers that this is a 4" cable. So you'll have to buy an extension cable (just extra cost and an extra device). So I decided to buy this for my HP Envy 360 as it doesn't have a CD drive. Great price and everything. Perfect fit for my laptop.
