So I decided to buy this for my HP Envy 360 as it doesn't have a CD drive. Great price and everything. Perfect fit for my laptop. In many reviews I have seen people complain about two things. 1) the inability to play DVD movies on it and 2) the length of the cable. Instead of fixing issue 1, I immediately downloaded VLC player, installed it and voila, I can watch DVD movies without any problems. (Apparently the included software doesn't allow you to do this without purchasing additional software, it may or may not, but I've decided to avoid it altogether and install free software with git-go. Windows 10 because they stage CDs on laptops don't come with their own DVD playback software, so extra stuff is required to watch the movies.) 2) That's funny. I kept seeing complaints that the always-on USB cable was too small and I didn't pay for it halfway because it would be right on the table next to the laptop. Do not worry! God. The problem isn't the length of the cable, it's the location. Why didn't they pull the cable out from the drive side so it connects to the laptop in a more natural way? The cable runs BEHIND the drive, with the drive facing away from you. Really awkward! And if you're thinking of USB expansion, forget it. As a result, you slow down the read/write speed of the hard drive. It's great that the cable has storage underneath the drive, but I have to wonder if the cable will wear out over time because it's permanently attached to it. That was embarrassing HP!
