Atolla Hub with Reader Splitter and Individual Switches Review

This small USB 3.0 hub is ideal for on the go. I need this for my Surface Pro Book 2. I also like the option where you can enable/disable individual ports and the LED shows the status. The addition of a built in SD and microSD card reader makes this little product perfect for me.

I needed an easy way to switch from multiple external storage devices. My laptop only has one port available after the others have been used, so I had to remove the memory blocks to switch to another. Moving files from one device to another was also a problem. I love the ability to toggle the USB and SD card connection on and off, but I have a problem with the SD card reader. Every time I plugged in the SD card or turned it on, I got a message saying the card wasn't seated properly before disconnecting. The map icon appeared briefly, then disappeared, then an error message and so on. I contacted Atolla tech support and after some troubleshooting they said it was most likely a hardware failure and would send a free replacement. It arrived two days…

I bought this item for PC and it recognizes/connects all USB and SD/MicroSD devices perfectly. The only reason I took off a star is that it requires an additional micro USB to USB cable to charge. and this cable IS NOT SUPPLIED WITH THE DEVICE and the supplied cable is too short making it difficult to place/keep in place. Some stupid bug with the infamous win10, after a while it goes to sleep and when it does it throws an error that windows didn't find the last usb device recognizes. So you have to unplug it and plug it back in. It is very inconvenient during a live broadcast if the microphone is not in use and goes to sleep. What can I say about this product. It works, although I have to say a couple of things. I most likely wouldn't use it as a travel center as it's made out of cheap plastic. I fixed it under my desk with double-sided tape for ease of use. It would be nice if it had some sort of engineered grip material so it doesn't slip around so easily.
