Hunter 99166 Traditional Globe Chestnut Review

Installed on a 42" Hunter fan and it's MASSIVE. My girlfriend and I had a hearty laugh and then quickly returned it. Well made dome, fits the fan perfectly except for the size. Instead I bought the Westinghouse version for a perfect fit in the appropriate scale.

This kit is perfect and bigger than our previous one so we can use bigger LED bulbs. They contained one of those spiral fluorescent tubes, but we couldn't use it because our fan is dimmed. Maybe they couldn't include the bulb in the kit and lower the price! Just a thought ;-)

With very few options (actually just this one) for a light that suits the original Hunter fan, we settled on this one. It's huge compared to the four-blade fan it's attached to and only has one lightbulb. It seems like the globe could be a lot smaller as it could probably fit 6 or 7 lightbulbs. That being said, we haven't had a light in our bedroom for months, so it's finally super cool. I'm sure that in a few years I won't notice this huge globe anymore.

If you've seen the original Hunter fans with the traditional globe shape like this, you'll know that all of their gear was previously built like tanks. Well folks, things aren't the same as before. The metal body is very thin. The lighting kit attaches to my Type-A fan adapter with two screws and doesn't fit properly because the included mounting screws are too long.
