Clamp is weak and will weaken over time

I really wanted to like this. I've even taped a few strips of rubber band to the ends of the clip where it's starting to unravel with use and heat just to hold it in place but to no avail this thing stays loose on the vent and when you put your phone on it, it just falls down halfway even if you drive a few blocks. I live in Texas, it gets hot here, maybe this will work for you if you're upstate or in Canada, but I'm a little skeptical.
