Dust Pickup Good Hose Poor

This really limits dust penetration when using 3M 220 grit sponges with channels. On the other hand, the hose is too stiff and short and can become a wrestling match. Solution: I bought a more flexible 7ft vacuum hose at a vacuum store ($1.68/ft).

Pros
  • Consistent Test Results
Cons
  • Unbelievable Price

Works fantastic with sanding blocks

I connected the hose directly to the hose end of my 4 gallon Vacmaster. It sucks up most of the drywall dust, and I haven't even tried using a ridged sponge to control dust. My only complaint is that the product description says any 3" x 5" sponge will do. This only applies if you cut the sponge to 4 inches. The description should say 2.5 x 4 inches. In general, this is just a typo.

The corrugated sponge catches and sucks up all the dust much better.

I should have bought one of these years ago. No more face masks, no more huge riots. Do yourself a favor and throw away the included sponge, it clogs up too quickly. I bought a sanding sponge from the hardware store that was grooved for dust and cut it to fit this sander. The ribbed sponge is much better at catching all the dust and sucking it into the case.

Does the job best in power tools and hand tools

I first bought a device with a wall mounted grinder but it was difficult to use as you can't apply much pressure. Finally switched to this one. This vacuum sander works really well, but I had to put a piece of cardboard on the bottom because the way the sanding sponge rubs on the spots I'm sanding, the sponge would come loose under the edge of the holder when applying hard pressure. Otherwise it worked great.

Not impressed. for power tools and hand tools

A good product in my opinion. Bought specifically for repairing nails on the ceiling. It would probably be better to pull the dust out if you could find a perforated sanding sponge, which I haven't seen anywhere. If you use a hard pad for overhead sanding, dust will collect on the surface of the pad and will not get into the vacuum. You have to constantly disconnect the hose and clean the seal. The hose is too stiff. and takes a very small backing pad. This may be ok for vertical or downward…

Works amazingly well for sanding drywall

No Paid Review, I boycott products that use paid reviews. Cross-hatched 3M sponges ranging from 120 grit to 80 grit for more efficient sanding. I threw away the hose that came with the kit and was able to just slip my OE Fein vacuum hose into this housing for a nice, airtight, detachable fit. Overall, this system does a pretty good job of sanding with almost no dust. I can loop over my head looking at her without glasses and nothing comes into my eyes that nicely describes her performance…

Huge sanding block time saver

I don't know what other people say it doesn't work, but it worked great for me. I connected the hose to a vacuum cleaner and it sucked great. I have a similar one that uses grated leaves and I don't like this one because it leaves long scratches on a dry wall. I have to say this is an absolutely great purchase because it works great and the price is right. 2 sanding sponges are also supplied but one will not fit the machine as it is a beveled angled sanding sponge. This saved me from taking…

Amazing design, poor hose works well

This product has 5 stars for design and functionality for small jobs and homeowners who are good with dirt but certainly don't make a living with duct tape. The hose that comes with the kit is only 3 feet long and is stiff. If you decide to use their stiff hose, consider taping it to your forearm for control, otherwise your hose will always be rubbing against the wall. I used the old 5 gallon Shop Vac hose which is longer and more flexible. I believe it should be hooked up to a 10 gallon shop…

Why didn't I find this sooner?

I used the grinder the first day I received it. To be honest I was skeptical after reading some reviews. Well I didn't have to. The mill is perfect for my project of renovating old plaster walls in a linen closet. After several days of head-to-toe dust, followed by a terrible clean, I was pleased to have sanded the entire wall almost dust-free. I should note that the grinder didn't come right out of the box for me. Including two sanding pads. but I wanted a coarser grit and the ones I had were…
