What it takes to remove the old paint from the paneled doors

I'm removing age old paint from the wood paneling in the hallway of a 100 year old bungalow and am having trouble with the moldings around the door panels and the fancy lintels of the door frames , but the round scrapers did their job. I used a scraper with a larger radius than the molding and rotated it until it matched rather than just scraping off the old paint. Square blades also made square grooves. Three door frames and two doors were made in a short space of time, and the early Americanโ€ฆ

Makes scraping easier!

My house is 1905 and covered in thick old hard paint. This tool is amazing and penetrates paint easily. If you're still having trouble scraping, try a completely different blade or angle. Believe it or not, for flat surfaces I've used a large blade with a straight blade and a U-shaped edge, and the U-blade works really well! As soon as I get closer to the wood's surface, I start with a straight blade to smooth it out. The blades are easy to swap out, but since this tool is quite cheap, I mightโ€ฆ

Saved my project - worked great

I found this tool Thursday evening, I started work on Saturday to get rid of a 90 year old crown molding. The delivery came on Friday and it WAS A TOOL! If I hadn't discovered that, I would have given up. All the others I've had for this job have failed. Wire brush, heat gun, regular flat scraper. FAILED. I was a little rough and it definitely scratched the wood a bit, but I'm repainting them and they'll look way better than before! Being able to easily switch blades is a game changer. It tookโ€ฆ

Best tool I've used so far and I've used them quite a bit!

It looks like a really good set. I have different versions of these but I like the locking mechanism on this one. The lever in the handle comes up, you put the blade on the end of the handle, and when you push the lever back into the handle it locks the blade very tight. Of course, heavy use may make it a different story BUT I still see it as a lot better than any other similar one I have. I also sharpened one of the blades to a custom contour. Well grounded. I kept it cool in some water so asโ€ฆ

Works great with and without heat guns

I've used this tool many times and it's holding up great. This isn't the only paint scraper I have, I use combos of flexible spatulas with other razor scrapers. But when it comes to wooden models, door frames and my 100 year old wooden windows in my Brownstown, this multi-bladed tool has become my go-to tool. Like all tools, blades need regular sharpening. The plastic handle isn't a problem with heat guns since you're heating the paint surface, not the tool or its handle (even then, it brieflyโ€ฆ

Holds well although plastic and very useful

The tool is not very long but works well. I've only used two blades and they work well. I don't think they will have the advantage for as long as the other Hyde scrapers. With teardrop and triangular wipers. These blades are made of stainless steel while others are made of carbon steel which holds the edge much better. Although I like it and I use it to scrape paint clots off bullet casings around my house. It's plastic unlike other Hyde scraper types and it's very easy to change blades but itโ€ฆ

A useful tool for quick blade changes, but not for heavy-duty applications

Before I bought this I had a similar tool that cost more, didn't have an easy blade change, but had a much stronger metal shaft with a soft grip. The blades are thick and strong enough, they do not bend and strong enough, they can be sharpened if desired. The handle is probably the weak point though, I don't see it straightening out over time. Changing the blade is easy, but the mechanism to do so also feels a bit unreliable and could potentially break. Luckily, the blades attach securely to my
