Buzzes loudly but doesn't emit air. For a "quiet" "air pump," it certainly makes a lot of noise without actually pumping air. This pump still works harder than Bezos to ensure his employees are treated fairly.

I bought this unit to replace the exact same air pump that has been running nonstop for the past 1 year. The capacity of the old pump was reduced so much that the bubble flow was about 25% of the original capacity. I give this pump 4 stars based on its overall performance over a 12 month period. This single outlet pump is quiet and powerful enough to get my airstones bubbling like crazy. Let's see if it gets worse next week, if so. Coming back I also read that people are covering other outlets on the big pumps, don't do that, just tie the extras together and use them for the sponge or stones you already have connected. Closing the outlets creates more noise because it creates more back pressure in the pumping station, resulting in louder noise and vibration.
