Appears to be dead. Bad investment

The temperature continues to rise despite being set to 76 degrees. The water was 82.2 in my aquarium which is in an air conditioned home and never goes above 78 degrees. The tank is also not in the sun. My previous heater was eheim and that was never a problem. The only positive is that it heats up quickly for the large tank and the display looks cool. Update 9/22/20 It's flashing, the water isn't overheating, it's still 82 degrees. I turned it off but the problem didn't go away. Seems like a…

It only worked for 6 months before it broke.

My 800W Hygger HG921 broke down after 6 months. The wrench light was on and the temperature on the display was over 97 degrees. I put my finger in the water to check the temperature and felt a small electric current. I turned off this heater and the electric current disappeared. I'm glad my Oscars didn't get electrocuted. Hopefully the second/spare hygger in my tank will last longer. Update: A crack was found in the PCB insulation in the heater housing.

Be careful when using it in an aquarium

I bought this product after reading positive reviews about it. The design is very elegant, modern and attractive thanks to the digital display with bright color contrast. However, when using this product underwater in an aquarium, I was constantly shocked as soon as I turned on the heater. I turned off the heater and the problem went away. The moment I installed it to test, voltage leaked out of the heater. Very nice design but I need it to do its job without harming myself or my fish.

As described 800w aquarium heater

The 800w heater easily handles my 125 gallon aquarium. I ordered a replacement about 6 months later as the original was not temperature controllable and the new one was sent free of charge. The new one is fine. Note: This heater, like everything I've had, measures the temperature of the water next to the heater. Therefore you have to set the temperature a few degrees warmer than you actually want the aquarium to be. You must have a way of measuring the temperature of the water in the part of…

Uniform and rapid heating

This heater is a bee's knees. In fact, I'm running it on a tank it's not designed for. I have a 480 gallon tank with a 180 gallon pan. However, this heater is able to keep my fish tank stable within 0.1 degrees. It is also capable of increasing the total water volume by 1 degree every 15 minutes, which is a truly remarkable feat. It appears to be an ABS plastic construction that's as tough as a football helmet. I absolutely love this product. The only thing that could improve it is an external…

Completely self destructed after 14 months.

This heater was one of two in my large 120 gallon turtle tank/terrarium. Being at the back, behind the waterfall configuration, I didn't realize how much it had deteriorated, and since I have a spare glass tube heater, it kept the water warm. I'm sure it was destroyed a few months ago 14 months but I don't know exactly when. years of use. The plastic contact guards on these glass panels tend to fail after 3-4 years so I was hoping this wide profile heater would be safer for turtles and last the

It heats well, the temperature sensor is not accurate

I'll start with the good. Warms well and keeps the temperature stable. The tank (75 gallons) is in a heated room (about 70) but near the outside wall of my basement in upstate New York (cold!). I had 2 300 watt heaters that just couldn't keep the temp in the tank above 76.5. I took out one of the 300s and replaced it with the 800 watts shown and now the tank is hovering between 79.1 and 79.5. But the sensor is off. I have a separate single sensor digital thermometer as well as a glass…

Wow! look what Santa gave me for Christmas; New Hygger 500w smart immersion heater with digital LED outdoor temperature display. Just two parts: the stylish, high-end ceramic heater itself and an external button used to adjust temperature settings and view temperature readings in the aquarium water. I have never seen a heater that heats up my tank so quickly and so safely! The time display images above were taken 10 seconds apart. After a few minutes I had reached my desired target temperature…

Honest mixed review

4 stars because mine completely burned a hole. DO NOT PUT IT ON YOUR SIDE. The company was very helpful and replaced it free of charge. But you need to be sure you see the fine print on the side of the heater. It means not closing a 'hole' I can't see which hole they're talking about. It should be in BIG BOLD LETTERS. I sincerely think I was lucky it didn't start a fire because although the heating element didn't work, one reader read that it was over 90 degrees and tried to get the tank temp…
