Expanding head Plastic

Ordered, thought it was a really good deal. Received the package. Noticed the heads are plastic. Probably not the best tool in terms of durability. I will see

Pros

Cons
  • Little things

Mine broke expanding my first fitting

This might work fine for 1/2" PEX but mine broke halfway expanding the first fitting. Literally 3 jerks and the steel lever arm broke.

Pros
  • Easy Install
Cons
  • disappears

Broke after less than 20 uses

This tool worked great until it broke before I used it for 20 connections. Is there a guarantee? The main piece of metal that pulls the torque on the spreader broke, apparently of inferior material.

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for support and durability
Cons
  • Can't remember but there was something

Click, pop, pop!

It broke before I could finish expanding the first 3/4" Sharkbite PEX-A wear ring. a little more about another brand, skip this one.

Works great on tube fittings

Other than the two right handed gloves that came with this tool, it worked perfectly. All of my pex tubes were sealed and leak free 4 hours after everything settled down. The color coded heads are a nice touch for quick visual selection of the correct size. job done and happy.

Pros
  • Works great for me

Works great with Uponor PEX A

Great product. When fully open, unscrew the expansion adapter and the closure creates an expansion. Make sure you use it on Pex A. Do not use it for shark bites etc. REMEMBER to rotate the expander 20-30 degrees several times during expansion. You must ensure that each contact point in the line has been expanded to ensure there are no leaks. 30 minutes is the recommended setup time for PEX storage.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Compatible

Broke after 7 connections

Well, the poor thing stole you-know-where and broke after I only made 7 connections. I had to look at the broken part and it turned out to be badly stolen with lots of pits and holes. Too much carbon and not enough iron. I'm making a spare for it. I don't have the time but nobody has the tools I need to complete the project. If I order another instrument from Revain, the material can still be crap. So I fix it with real steel.

  • Price
Cons
  • Functionality

Did the job, saved thousands

Stove leaked prematurely because a drunk plumber installed faulty copper lines. Pex rushes to the rescue. Instead of hammering into the concrete foundation, I found a way to reroute the faulty line through the attic. With pex and this tool, the repair was easy. A heavy duty expander would have been nice, but I only needed it for a few connections as I kept the number of fittings to a minimum on long runs. I don't know if I can increase the size by 1 inch as 3/4 inch was heavy. Not the tool's…

Pros
  • Nice touch
Cons
  • Some flaws
