Ignition Briggs Stratton 590454 790817 Review

The unit works well and I was able to get it to work with the 15.5hp motor. The ignition wire was not long enough and the two mounting holes were too wide for my application. A screw keeps it in place. Aside from those things, my engine still ran like new.

We have 7 machines of different brands. Cultivator, lawn mower. This item does not fit any of them. Screw sizes are wrong. There is also no right of return. Don't be a victim and don't waste your money on this, read the reviews.

I used on a Craftsman 917.377061 lawnmower with B&S 6.5hp engine Mod. WORKS GREAT, MORE PERFORMANCE THAN OEM! A NOTICE. The manufacturer has replaced part 802574 with the new part 590454. Bolt center to center spacing is 2.32 inches or 59 mm.

My lawn mower was having trouble starting after the engine overheated. Did a little research and it all went back to the ignition coil. I bought this for $15 and Viola! the task is solved. Starts immediately, although the engine has been running for some time. Worth every penny and hopefully last a while.

Had to guess correct installation direction but otherwise installation was as easy as anything. The mower started immediately. Left of the star due to lack of directional information and because I had to change the spark plug boot from the old coil to this one (yes I know it was drawn that way so I knew what I was getting, but that doesn't mean any less annoying).

So far this has helped. The old high-pressure cleaner works again. How long is the question lol. Hope it lasts at least a few years. I have had many Brigg engines and have not used as many coils as this one. This will be the third in about 8 years but for me this is the first case of this brand. Remember to keep the old spark plug boot or buy a new one if you like, although I've run many briggs in the past without booting with no problems.
