This is the only fixer I have ever used but it works perfectly every time. Also remember that the fixer can be reused and refilled in smaller batches to keep the mix fresh in a separate bottle. If you really want to maximize the life of your fixer you should also use an Ilford stop bath as it neutralizes the developer a little better. Old reliable. The only fixative I use because it doesn't require a toxic hardener. If you're worried about brand loyalty, don't worry. I use Ilford fixers with different brands of developers and stop baths. It is excellent. It takes a long time. I mix 200ml fixative with 800ml water to make a working film fix solution and use a liter at a time. I can usually develop at least 25 rolls of film before it gets silver inked.
