Well firstly it doesn't burn and if you hold it under a strong flame etc it will light up for a second and emit thick smoke which of course is unsafe despite what it looks like. A very severe burn leaves a toxic little one and definitely doesn't smell like sage, and that's again if you can even get it to burn. I love these mixing sticks, they burn fiercely. but I've noticed a lot of people give bad reviews because of the stems in them.
