Enough for occasional use

Essentially a fan that makes wind noise. Good enough for the high water alarm I installed in my sump pit. This is a two wire system but I've added a ground to the metal case just in case.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Almost OK

Cheap but faded

Budget product. But what's the use if it breaks? Use it as a house alarm. The alarm clock rang several times. There was a bad motion sensor. When I came back the machine wasn't working. I opened it up to see if there is a problem with the cables. The block burned out and the insulation inside was weakened.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Secret

Loud but not like a siren

The tone is produced by a spinning blade that looks more like a loud instrument than a siren. If that so-called siren goes off in my yard, my neighbors will probably think I'm working on a project. If you buy one, make sure you secure the device before powering it on as it will want to take off due to the G-forces generated by the spinning blade.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Illuminated fire alarm

Be careful. I used this along with a moving light as a home made alarm for my shop. The alarm has only been used for about 6 weeks and has already stopped working. Upon closer inspection, I found that one of the wires inside the case was actually rubbing, shorting out and burning out the motor. I think it could be engine vibration but it still wasn't good and luckily it didn't start a fire in my workshop. trash trash trash

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Transparency

Short lifespan in security and surveillance

I bought this as an intruder alarm connected to a SmartThings security system. no on/off switch; I plugged it in and hooked it up to a SmartThings switch to get it working (the two components together were cheaper than a Z-Wave/Zigbee siren). The siren was moderately loud and had a constant pitch. It sounded more like a whistle than a siren. After all, I used it as an alarm clock more than anything else. Stops working after 3 weeks of use. I would recommend buying something else unless low cost

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Negative result available

There is no clear siren sound of its own, but a kind of noisy fan.

This is an ordinary fan in a metal case, nothing special. The picture is kind of deceptive in the sense that it looks like a real siren. Mine came with missing cover screws. When trying to test the device, a screw that was loose inside flew out of the fan like a bullet. I tried screwing it back on but found that the thin metal hole was larger than the size of the screw. I bought larger HD screws and had them repaired. Poor design but makes a noise similar to a drill. The noise isn't aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • High price
