"Standard" rod does not support blackout curtains. Ordered it because it looked strong. I was expecting a mostly painted pipe. Very happy with the ending. Very strong and I was able to just remove the old flimsy aluminum bar and install it with a couple of new holes (there are four screws on the ends meaning they will hold the weight). Exceeded my expectations. Except for the grandson hanging from the curtains, they don't go down.

I work the night shift so it is important that there is no light in my bedroom. Curtains wrapped around the sides of the pole block a significant amount of light. Do not buy this curtain rod. After a long wait for delivery, my husband spent an hour installing this curtain rod. We tested the screw mechanism before attaching the brackets to the wall. It was difficult to tighten the screw (I had to screw the rod into the bracket). But it finally worked. So he spent a lot of time marking, drilling and carefully fastening the brackets. Then we tried screwing in the rod; The screw had snapped off and didn't work. I'm so tired of buying bad quality, cheap…
