meltdown! The fuse is defective or rated much higher than 150 amps.

The fuse must be much higher than 150A or it will not blow. I had a portable AC unit with a 2000w pure sine wave inverter drawing 100 amps DC and the fuse holder melted. The 1/0 wire I used didn't get hot. The fuse holder has not processed up to 100 amperes permanently. Luckily I didn't have a fire.

Pros
  • Simple in-line fuse holder ANL
Cons
  • not reliable

Poor quality replacement

This Install Gear fuse holder looks identical to many branded models. Unfortunately, that's where the similarities end. It uses the same clear plastic casing found in many big brand devices, but the internals (the important parts) are poor quality replacement parts. The unit doesn't have the same o-ring arrangement as, say, a Stinger unit, so water is likely to leak (they're usually mounted under the hood). The plating used is a very thin, inferior satin nickel plating, while well-known branded

Pros
  • Satin nickel finish
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Ideal for alternator retrofits

I received this to hook up to my pickup truck charging system. I have updated the 2G alternator to have fuses in the wires rated for standard 60 amp vehicle charging only. Upgraded to a 130 amp 3G alternator and I needed something to connect to with the massive 2 gauge wire I used to do this. Protects the car from overload. Easy to install and usually very easy to replace a fuse should an event overload the circuit and blow the fuse. I recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade their car's…

Pros
  • Clear protective cover
Cons
  • Damaged
