Very happy, good speed, decent reception

I was having serious speed issues with my 2.4GHz desktop card. I decided to switch to this one for the 5GHz range. Installation was very quick and easy. I skipped the software and just installed the driver and the device worked right away. An external antenna seems to help a bit, although the reception isn't perfect, I have to play with the alignment. Still 4 out of 5 lanes and a solid 135Mbps as stated in the adapter information in Win7. That's more than double the 2.4GHz speed I've gotten soโ€ฆ

If you have a desktop PC and need wireless, get this.

After buying many wireless USB network adapters, all of which were absolute junk, I finally got this one and finally the most reliable one Connected to my WiFi router. If you consider that you can easily pay 2-3 times the price for this device for a weaker USB competitor, then that's just the icing on the cake. After installing this and getting such good results, I ordered a second one for a different computer. Second Computer Update: Installed on the second computer and what was previouslyโ€ฆ

perfect for windows 8.1 desktop in the basement

I have a wifi router upstairs and a desktop in the basement and with a usb adapter it works with 2-3 tracks but without reason interrupts the connection and refuses reconnecting until the desktop reloads. Tried 3 different USB adapters and finally bought this one. Ideally, no drivers need to be installed manually, Windows 8.1 loads the adapter with a built-in driver, and Windows Update then pushes the updated driver. And for 10 days no drop, almost constant 5 bars. It's amazing. Much more thanโ€ฆ

Ideal Linux WiFi Adapter

I have used many USB WiFi adapters over the years. Her performance was acceptable but nothing special. Finding a decent dual-band desktop adapter for Linux can be difficult. If you are a Linux user and need a desktop adapter, look no further. The thing works perfectly. I am using kernel 3.8.2. I achieve amazing speeds with it. It outperforms the previous Rosewill N150 adapter I used. The only reason I removed the star is for the antenna. The antenna works perfectly - I have no complaints aboutโ€ฆ

Installation tip/tip

Let's get down to business. I bought this product in March 2013, it has been working perfectly for several months (or so I thought). However, every few weeks I got a BSOD on Windows 7 64-bit, which I didn't immediately link to this product due to other hardware changes around the same time. Today the blue screen stopped/hangs and I was able to see the file that is causing the error (netwsw00.sys). A google search revealed this to be the driver for the Centrino Wi-Fi adapter. Furtherโ€ฆ

WIFI card + Desktop = Eh!

I've never been a fan of internal WIFI on desktops. I bought this WIFI card when assembling my latest PC. My computer is in my basement and any normal laptop/tablet/smartphone gets a 100% connection without any problems. Same goes for this one. As long as you don't mind waiting here and there to reconnect. For some reason it seems to stay off after hibernation or right at PC startup or say "No internet connection" even when all other devices have no problem. My build has Windows 7 64 bit whichโ€ฆ

Nice choice! - Computer Components

The Intel Centrino Advanced N6205 WiFi card is the perfect choice for anyone who constantly has trouble connecting to a USB adapter. I used a Linksys USB adapter and for the most part it was fine until I upgraded to Windows 8.1. Drivers running in compatibility mode meant they consistently didn't wake up when the computer woke from sleep. I was frustrated with having to keep rebooting the whole machine just to get the wireless adapter working. With the Intel N6205 adapter, I had no troubleโ€ฆ
