Ironwood Gourmet Salad Tongs for Spring - 2.25 x 2.25 x 12 inches Review

For some reason I thought they would be dyed darker to match the acacia wood salad bowl. They are more of the color of natural wood and don't feel like high quality wood. The portion that the lettuce grabs is too small, and the "spring" isn't firm enough.

The product looks fantastic. At least as long as you don't look too closely. When I opened the package, the tip of a pen popped out. Salad can be served with the help of Gorilla Glue and a quick clamp. Looks like something with a hard edge fell on it. Pretty good, despite sloppy handling.

This was much more than I expected. I thought it would fold up and not take up much room in my utensil drawer - wrong. What I also didn't like was that it had a sticker that was difficult to remove. It left a sticky residue. This seems particularly bad for kitchen utensils used with food. I ended up donating it to Goodwill. :-(

Highly recommended for an extra touch of class. Used them for a woody baby shower theme and healthy salad extravaganza. Ironically, my husband was caught photographing and studying their construction. He commented (assuming they belonged to the housewife) that they were really good and thought he could get me a pair. They could have been a 5 but the finish was really rough. They needed a quick sanding with #400 sandpaper and were nice and smooth. seconds on the grinding/polishing belt before you oil them.

These tongs have become my daily kitchen helper. I've had them for about a month now and they're holding up great. I use it with anything I cook in a pan (hamburgers, shrimp burgers, bacon, grilled cheese). They're bigger than others I've bought, so better keep them in your hands. Update: 2 months later, this is still my favorite cookware in the kitchen. I still use them every day to serve anything from pasta to baked pork chops.

Beautiful wooden tongs. It's lightweight and feels premium when you hold it in your hands. The only downside is that there is no way to keep the pliers closed when not in use. I don't have this on display so I wrapped it with a rubber band to save space. I've seen other tongs that were more creative in terms of storage where you can rotate it and it stays closed. Not a bad buy for the price, but you could pay a little more for something else.
