I'm a Metalsmith. I have medium sized women's hands and need to cut with 2 hands with these scissors, I cut 28 gauge metal. I am building a barn with my husband. I like a longer cut, but at what cost? I have several types of snips, these are the worst.
Bought these to help a friend with some vinyl siding work I've been a carpenter for a very long time Love these products but definitely need these a lot more to be sharpened, you didn't have to break your ass or kill your hands or wrists to cut through thin vinyl siding for Pete.
I was a little skeptical at first they are a little long but the tool worked and I cut brilliantly through 200ft of gutter guards and make corner joints like butter on a roof. They also cut about 60 feet of wire mesh, which was done and installed in under an hour.
I bought these with Klein Tools offset shears which cost $10 more. I love the staggered design of the Klein Tools scissors, but these Irwin scissors are better in every way. First, they are quite comfortable to hold in a medium-sized hand. Second, the spring is very strong and smooth, making the blades easier to open and close. And third, they cut much better than Klein Tools scissors. Despite being made in Taiwan and Klein Tools scissors in the USA, the design and build quality of the Irwinโฆ
A very handy tool that I use on the job site. Colleagues have similar tools from other brands and other types, but this one is by far the most effective. Cuts 8 coaxial cables with minimal effort. Even hit it with a hammer to strip the junction boxes of plaster with no sign of damage affecting functionality. If this ever breaks, I'll buy another one for the price. Also sharp enough to cut plastic wrap and even stretch rope.
Pros
Hot forged steel blades for maximum strength and durability
I got trigger finger when using regular scissors to cut thick chicken treats for my dogs. They are designed for tin/metal but they are stronger than regular shears. The squeezing motion I had to use to cut caused a painful tendinitis/trigger finger. These metal scissors make cutting easy and smooth and solved my problem. I like that the edges aren't curved like some other scissors. IRWIN has always been my family's favorite instrument brand. They are of higher quality and trusted brand.
Pros
Strong spring washer keeps blades tight when cutting
One-piece shears for cutting thin metals such as metal bolts, metal plates or sheet metal. With thicker metals, however, the blades tend to shift unless you apply force at the perfect angle to the bottom of the cut when cutting. I think it's the blade length. My usual use is just cutting metal objects, it doesn't need to be clean, it doesn't need to be precise, just cut anything that's out of the way. I found it much easier with the shorter side cutters. as this. So I wouldn't recommend them if
Pros
Strong spring washer holds blades together while cutting.
