I really like this product. To reduce intake noise, reduce airflow slightly. The lid has holes at the top which makes feeding easier and if you want to put in some plant stems for rooting. The inlet pipe has three water outlets, which is nice. The only downside I can think of is that the intake pipe is square and not curved. Also, the support pins don't hold up well. This item was purchased as a DIY hob retreat. However, it is EXTREMELY noisy and has a very low flow rate. The noise was so bad that I considered bringing it back and abandoning the project. But with a little ingenuity, this product works great. Instead of using a snorkel and regular air stone to suck water into a crate, I bought a water pump to pump water from my HOB filter into my new sanctuary. That works great!
