I'm one of those who aren't standard. I watched a few DIY videos on how to use polyester cotton to make a sponge filter or a very cheap replacement filter in an aquarium. For the price you get about twice as much as in the store. The density is not so thick to properly polish and filter the water in the aquarium, and most importantly, even for my 8 aquariums, the cotton here is probably enough for 4 years. Buying new filters for 8 tanks for 4 years costs about $330.

I changed the cushions on my couch and of course needed the dacron to cover it with foam. I planned the thickness of the cushions considering the thickness of the dacron. When I received the foam it was of the thickness I expected and was generally quite satisfactory. However, this dacron was a bit thinner than I expected and didn't help fill the pillow as expected. Quilting was recommended to me as a possible solution for filling my sofa. The upholstery edge on my couch was worn so you could feel the wood underneath (which is uncomfortable) and I needed to add some padding and that's what I got. This product is vacuum packed and will shed after opening. I find it a bit flimsy, but you can fold and layer it to make it thicker for your needs.
