Fun, affordable and flexible new artist supplies!

So much fun! It's a very simple process and the possibilities for wet cyanotyping are endless. I've just started using cyanotype in my work, but these inexpensive jacquard materials are easy to use, and the papers say they will produce 50-60 sheets of 8" x 10". My experience with fabrics shows that this is realistic, so I will have to experiment a lot in the future. Why has this wondrous process been confined to architectural drawings for so long? Works perfectly!

I was lucky with this material. In theory, it shouldn't vary from brand to brand (unless advertised) as it's a simple chemical composition. When emphasizing paper, pay attention to what type you are using. Most commercially available papers are buffered and contain various additives (optical brighteners, etc.). These properties are disadvantageous for the chemical process of cyanotyping. If you want high-quality printouts, buy paper without buffers or additives. DO NOT USE PAPER. You will only…

Fun and easy

Works very well and is easy to use. The bottles contain the chemicals in powder form, to which water must be added. This can be a little tricky as the bottles are not transparent. Be careful not to overfill. You need to shake the bottles and leave them for about a day so that they dissolve completely (according to the instructions). They say the chemicals are pretty safe but I used rubber gloves and I'm sure they will stain if they get on you. I used watercolor paper and a wide soft brush. The…
