Great location and idea. When it gets hot, it gets loose. I've found that if you cut a piece of rubber, place it on a spinning ball and trim it so the plastic nut slides over the plastic threads, it works like a charm. I'm rocking a little, but come on, you're driving a jeep. Update: It lived about 3 months and broke. I'm sad. It was a great idea and the perfect place to stay out of the way.

I was looking for a mount like this to attach my own phone mount to but couldn't find the mount itself. The phone holder is fine with that, but there are better ones. I will change the mount to accept a phone holder of my choice once I find one I like. I have a slight vibration but I found several ways to solve this problem. Even with the vibration it never let my phone fall out of the holder. All in all a worthwhile purchase for the money.

So obviously it was designed as a portable mic hook for a CB or PA system, and then someone converted a phone holder into it. That being said, if the right hardware is supplied (as other reviewers have mentioned), it will work well. As it is I wouldn't trust it to hold my phone but I'm modifying it and it will work fine. I plan on using it primarily off-road to hold the inclinometer, so the fact that it's springy and not designed to take the weight of the phone shouldn't matter much.
