Great idea but silicone seal fails early

Long waited to write a review. The idea behind it stands. The taste is strong and easy to clean. The downside is that the silicone seal on the inner lid will curl up after the second or third batch. IF this happens you lose the ability to keep the water and product closed. It also allows you to "stink". I like the smell, but my wife noticed that the house smelled like sauerkraut. That was my clue that something had gone wrong as the house hadn't smelled in months. I think it's better to use a…

Works well and easily

I'm not an experienced kimchi chef, just a novice who took a little kimchi making class and came home with a jar. It seemed to me that it would be much easier to ensure the absence of oxygen in kimchi if I used the E-Jen system with an internal lid to remove excess air. Aside from my own difficulties of not having the optimal amount of Napa Sprouts (it appears to be a container for two cabbages, not one), I was able to use this container with no problem. Overall I can say that this system was…

So cool, used to make/store my own kimchi

The only downside I can say to this is that I would love to buy more kimchi. I still could. I started experimenting with making my own kimchi, but I've always had a hard time finding ways to protect the tops of my batches from the air. This container can be used to store store bought kimchi or to make your own. It has a top outer cap that snaps on very tightly and then an inner cap that looks like a flask with a cork. You push on the plunger cap with the stopper open to force all the air out…

Extremely easy to use and gives great results

After a kimchi class where we bagged our kale quarters in a quart jar, I came home inspired to try making a larger batch at home. I knew that after the joy of cutting the cabbage to portion size to prevent infecting others, I didn't want to use mason jars anymore. So I searched for Onggi but came across this. I love that the inner lid helps keep the contents anaerobic and isolates the flavor (which I prefer to separate from the rest of the food in my fridge). Thanks to a very good teacher, both
