Saved me from replacing my expensive Hunter fan!

Not only is the original switch broken, but the cap is broken too! So I bought both from Revain and for less than $17 saved me from spending over $200 on a new fan! Of course I had to climb stairs, but I'd have to do a lot more if I was replacing the fan or else I'd have to pay someone else a hundred bucks or two to do it for me. !

Installation Tip: Lighting and Ceiling Fans

So installation is not as easy as you think. After looking at some tips and tricks on the internet I realized that to insert the wire you need to push back the little metal tabs on the side holes with a paper clip. The wire doesn't go through holes like other reviewers have said. If you try to put wire through the small round holes at the top, they won't hold. Use the hole to insert a paper clip and hold the metal tabs on the side to allow the wire to go in. After installation it works greatโ€ฆ

Poorly designed and manufactured, dangerous

This 3 gang switch uses a wiring method where the wire is stripped and inserted into a hole like that used on some wall switches. In theory, a thin piece of metal or two will "clamp" the wire and prevent it from being pulled out. Think of your finger in one of those "Chinese finger traps". This switch is poorly built and barely holds the wire. The wire could not be properly fixed during insertion. With a device like a fan that moves/vibrates I could imagine a wire snapping out of a holeโ€ฆ

Sparking, Extremely Unsafe & Difficult to Install

I spent an hour trying to install this in a Hampton Bay ceiling fan but it failed. The wire connections in this switch are very loose, making it very difficult to get them to respond reliably. I got it working with the ceiling fan open, then closed the whole thing and it stopped working. I then tried to tape the wires in place but that still didn't work. In many cases the wires produced sparks when I made small movements towards the switch. THIS IS FIRE HAZARD! I've attached a video showing him
