Our ball catches on our closet doors are used TONS every day. Consequently, they wear out at least once a year per side. These bars are very easy to change and adjust. This time I bought six of them, so we have enough spares for a LONG time.

We used it to replace only the ball/plate at the top of four doors. The original parts were installed more than 25 years ago and are no longer produced. With a slight increase in the recessed area of each door, they are easy to install, and after turning the ball joints to adjust the height of the balls, they work well. Success!

This was the perfect replacement for 30 year old hardware in a home we just bought and are renovating. But the paint on the latches scratches so easily that the paint is missing before we can test that they hold the doors. This was a disappointment as I spent $100,000 on renovations and the smallest thing in the house that needs replacing looks bad. I ordered a few more so I'll try a different plate from a different set and see if it's better. You may need to repaint them yourself.

In their defense the hole was slightly smaller than my existing hole in my doors so its centering was a bit questionable.
