Jorgensen clamp: I can't live without them

I have had 3 pairs of Jorgensen clamps in the last 30 years. When I moved to Maui 2 years ago I didn't take her with me. I haven't worn them in a year but bought a size 4 pair last month. What a relief! I've used them 6 or 7 times in the last month. Indispensable, especially on sloping or uneven surfaces. Holds things firmly together or to another surface.

Pros
  • Handles provide a comfortable grip

  • Some cons

Exactly what I expected.

Definitely made in the USA. After reading other reviews here this was exactly what I expected. Very high quality. FYI, the numbering on the Jorgensen DIY kits does not directly correspond to the size of the finished clips. Kit numbers are the length of the clamp body).

Pros
  • 1 year limited warranty
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Almost as good as the name Jorgensen suggests.

I have several Jorgensen clamps, some over 30 years old. They're still tough after being abused for decades. They are ALMOST as good. Deducted 1 star because some of the fittings and pins had very sharp burrs. It also looks like the tree is not processed. All in all I think they will hold up.

Pros
  • Good
Cons
  • Obsolete

Better than Bessey

These little villains are expensive for what they're made of. I bought three different brands in a short period of time, thinking that they should basically be the same - they aren't. The quality of the wood, the way the pieces are attached and the strength of the screws set it apart from the other two. I was surprised that the Bessey product was made quite cheaply in comparison. The differences might not be so obvious if they weren't side by side. They are often used in my shop and all three…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Best Clamps for Power Tools and Hand Tools

Every wood shop needs a variety of different types of clamps. These hand screws are particularly useful for clamping two or more pieces of wood together through their thickness rather than their width. Of course, other types of clamps will work - some are cheaper and faster, but none work better. There is no comparison between these hand screws and e.g. B. Quick Release Rod Clamps (like the Irwin Quick Grip). The main difference is that you can apply a lot more force with a hand screw than with
