Overheating with a simple load

A simple LED strip with a 12V dimming controller worked on it. That shouldn't be a problem with this device. About 30 days after installation I noticed that the headlights were not working properly. I started investigating and found that this power supply was uncomfortably hot. Like it's hard to stay warm I immediately changed it to a 2A unit which works fine but it's clearly not great quality.

Pros
  • is also understandable for the old

Faulty ungrounded power cord!

The PSU itself appears to be working properly. My problem is an ungrounded power cord. While the power supply has a standard 3-pin IEC socket, the cord connects to a 2-pin plug. I noticed this discrepancy when after a couple of weeks the cable jacket failed, exposing the two wires going to the connector. This is a serious safety issue and I encourage all users to replace the power cord with a standard, grounded cord immediately.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Works flawlessly! well suited for lighting accessories

The 8A version works perfectly with 5A (120W) LEDs without overheating or "breaking". It appears to be a reliable, well-functioning product. UPDATE: Apologies for the error, but this powers a set of LEDs for a total of 120W, 2 sets of 60W LEDs (3W x 20) alternately pulse at 292Hz, each with a 50% duty cycle. The actual power drawn from the PSU at any given time is 60W. I can't agree that 120 watts of continuous use can handle this item.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • No instructions

I bought one of these just over a year ago to power 15 foot 5050 LED lights for my kitchen cabinets and it still works great. I replaced another brand that was out of production the year before it went out. Just the other day another of the same different brand failed so I replaced it with this brand. Very happy with it so far. Another nice bonus is that I use a remote switch that turns the AC on and off, and older switches have a long LED turn-on delay. But they appear almost immediately. The…
