Essential tool for Cummins 6.7L oil change

The tool works great. It seals and seals the top or inlet of the bypass oil filter to prevent oil from spilling when removed from the engine compartment. The T-handle makes it easy to grip and control. Made of plastic so take your time and thread it by hand being careful not to twist it. Essential tool for changing the oil/filter on the RAM 6.7 liter Cummins engine.

Not useless junk

I thought it was a waste of money. Long story short, I didn't get any oil anywhere because this thing works the way it's supposed to work. I doubted when I saw it. I didn't think all the old oil would stay in the filter, I thought something would leak. No drop. So, in my humble opinion, if you change the oil yourself, don't want to have it everywhere and everywhere, and don't mind spending about $10 to keep it that way, this spark plug is for you. It's worth the money I spent keeping it all toโ€ฆ

If you change the oil yourself, this tool is a must.

Every time I change the oil on my Ram pickup, I always drain the filter when I take it off. You have to turn the filter on its side to remove it, which spills the oil and makes a mess. This simple product is great. Simply unscrew the filter, lower it while holding it straight up, screw the oil plug into the filter and no more spills. Works in reverse order when installing a new filter. Fill the filter about 3/4 full. Screw the plug into the filter. Reinstall it, remove the plug and install aโ€ฆ

Works, but is very prone to cross-threading.

This is a good tool for removing the old filter. It just snags on a couple of very thin threads so you have to be very careful not to cross the threads, it's a difficult task because you're blindfolding it, with one hand, digging into the engine bay at arm's length. I've used it once and don't think I'll use it again, I've already ordered one from Geno's Garage in aluminum. can break off and fall into the oil filter, and since the center is the clean side of the filter, it gets into the engine.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Only available in black

Just did the first oil change on my new 2020 Ram 2500. and how to access it when changing the oil. It is located in a hard-to-reach place under the right wheel arch. Once the oil filter is unbolted from the engine, there is very little room to remove the oil filter. And the only option is to tilt it outwards and take it off horizontally. The problem is that the filter is still full of oil and all of the oil ends up on your truck and everything underneath. This plug screws in easily and plugsโ€ฆ
