I was so excited to receive this item until I opened the box. Came in pieces with a lid! I almost cut myself trying to clean my kitchen from all the glass that was coming out of the crate!

I really like this product. I use this every day. The spices included weren't all the spices I would have liked. So I added some free refills. You can easily write on the top with chalk to change the label. I saw the same spice rack at Macy's for $70. So I was happy to get mine for half the price. And I get free refill discs for 5 years. I only pay shipping.

My husband is very happy with these spices. However, containers leave a lot to be desired. They are plastic, pop-up, with a slotted dispenser on one side and an open dispenser on the other. Be careful when shaking to dose through the slotted side, it may come out through the open side as well. Salt isn't great. Don't be fooled by "free refills”. You have to pay for shipping and handling, but fees apply. Given that refills come in pouches rather than bottles, I can't justify $22 for 20 pouches that probably weigh no more than a pound. They also don't have a huge range of condiments to use every day and if you put in your own favorites they don't sell blank labels or anything to write on the jar so it doesn't look ugly. I bought the Kamenstein and Old Thompson designs because I wanted different spices for each (there were 8 duplicates between 2 and 8 originals). I really love Kamenstein more than Old Thompson for the following reasons. Where the Old Thompson gets stuck, the Kamenstein turns clean. It doesn't matter much to me, but it might for some.2. Firstly, yes the lids are plastic. These reviews are helpful. One of mine broke while assembling. We contacted Kamenstein and they sent us another one, we received it within a week. Be sure to let them know your model and mailing address if you email them about a defect. They have excellent customer service. When I read that this product comes with a free 5 year supply of spices I thought wow only the savings will come from that likely to cover the cost of the product in the long run.
