Poor quality, best in storage and organization

We've had it less than a year and it's never been easy to use. At first it was difficult to simply pull out the paper towel with one hand. And the other day the rod started to wobble. The husband tried to see what was happening to him, and here is the result due to poor quality. The base that the rod screws into is completely broken making this product ready to be thrown away.

Broke after 3 months!

Bought, arrived less than 3 months ago. It's now disassembled on my counter. This item has not been abused and is in an adult household only. My genius husband, a contractor, tried to fix it but the bolt/nut doesn't seem to match and the degradation of the product wasn't a question of if it broke, it was when it broke. I hope the seller sees this and refunds so I don't have to waste time packing and sending it back.

Ratchet too tight. for storage and organization

I bought 3 of them and am sending 2 back. They all suffered from a ratchet that was too tight. The ratchet works great with a full roll of paper towels, but when the roll is low (less than half full) the base slides rather than the ratchet, allowing a towel to be dispensed. If your fingers are wet, the base will not slip because a small piece of paper towel will come loose in your fingers. The base is nice and heavy, but not heavy enough for a ratchet that is too tight. Too bad. I will try…

Could be better in kitchen and dining room

I was delighted to order this paper towel holder for our newly renovated kitchen. Kamenstein has always had a reputation for quality, which I expected. I have to say I am a bit disappointed with this product. The gold is not very shiny, the base resembles the edge of a can and is very light. You really can't always use just one hand to hand out paper towels. This is fine for the first few blades, but as the pulley wears out the chain becomes too light to withstand the ratcheting action. At the…

Ratchet too tight. It's supposed to help you peel the film off, but depending on the angle of pull it usually just flips over the product. Since I have children and they are small, this happens all the time. Looks great and a great concept but needs some tweaking to be perfect. It just so happens that it's easy to set up! At the bottom of the block, dead center, you will feel a depression behind the rubber pad where there is a hole. Cut the hole with a razor blade to expose the nut under the…

No better than no holder at all.

Mine arrived with a small dent in the base. It looks like it was made that way and was not caused by damage in transit. The dent was small enough not to disturb anyone. But it bothered me. I tested this holder with a bounty roll. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If you don't rip the sheet off at the right speed and angle, everything will slide off my granite countertop. The only way to keep it from sliding to the floor is to hold the base with your hand. Serious? If you need to hold

Why can't it be like my other Kamenstein?

Base needs to be heavier. The small pin on the side that is supposed to prevent the roll from unrolling is also useless. I bought another Kamenstein model from Costco. Perfect. I wanted a second one, but my Costco didn't carry it anymore. I contacted Revane here but I couldn't find him. This is the closest I found. This model has two problems (which are related): 1. The turning movement requires too much force.2. The base is too light. Together they pose a problem, especially when the reel is…
