They work well IF you have very small fingers. I can put my index finger in the clippers, but the tip of my thumb has a hard time getting in. The small purple inserts in the holes can be removed to make the holes a little bit bigger if you like. They have a strong head with no play, they are perfect for my kitty's razor sharp claws. The design makes it very easy to see how much of the nail you are clipping.

If you have a hedgehog and cannot trim your nails any other way, these scissors will make your job a lot easier. It's still annoying at times, but I've found it much easier to maintain the large claws that my hedgehog seems to be growing unusually fast. But get it if you have a hedgehog and are unsure. It helped me and significantly improved a task I hated. It's not that scary anymore.
