Non-ritual grit

This is a way to curl or grind the small birds you drew on the glass, their beak would break or they could choke to large sizes for large parrots.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Too coarse for parrots

I found this sand too coarse and potentially dangerous for parrots. Some of the pieces were large, sharp, and serrated, which could injure a small bird. I'm going back to the smoother, finer grains that I usually buy.

Pros
  • An absolute legend

Great Stuff!: Birds

My parrot loves this thing! He doesn't usually eat the squid I put in his cage. I was worried he was getting enough calcium and minerals in his diet because he refuses to eat anything but seeds. This seems to provide what he was probably missing in his diet. Thank goodness it's on the market for a spoiled bird like mine!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Secret

Our little pigeon is very happy with this sand

Our little pigeon is very happy with this sand. We keep it in a small ceramic bowl on the floor of her cage, about 1/2 teaspoon or less per week. Depending on the needs, she prefers dark gravel or light crystals. This container was great value and will last a long time. I'm glad to know that the grit we use is suitable for their pigeon hunting. I think she also appreciates an extra source of calcium if she feels she needs it!

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Long delivery

DO NOT BUY FOR PARROTS

Parrots shell their seeds with their beaks rather than swallowing them whole as no sand is needed. It has been known to cause blockage of the crop and intestines and lead to death! Information from the Parrotlet Handbook (Barrons) on Amazon at page 46. Please, please, please! Make sure you have a bird that is okay with her. I sent mine back unopened with no problems. I received the Parrotlet manual the same day. Product Description I am sure this product will be good for the birds that need it

Slightly chunky good for eating

Since I can't find fine gravel and sand that sells wilder, I had to turn to this one. He's a bit stiff and squat for my cockatiel, but he's still a kid. However, he chews it when he is at the bottom of his cage. He rarely goes in there, but I find that putting newspaper, Forti-Diet Pro, and some shredded paper on the bottom of the cage is better than using the bedding they now make for cage liners. I want to say that it perfectly absorbs moisture. This is just a little that you add to the feed…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Slightly easy to maintain
