While this fan is perfect, it lacks the metal reinforcement of the original fan. At some point during transport, the eyelet for attachment broke. Since this fan was intended for a work laptop, I had to glue it together and use it. We couldn't afford to keep this laptop waiting another week for a replacement.

There is a small plastic pin on the fan housing that arrived broken. I believe the fan was mailed in a plastic postal envelope. I hope the broken post doesn't change anything. The fan is silent, unlike the original fan.

Fan replaced on laptop myself; Before the replacement, the fan could be heard from three rooms. Now my laptop doesn't heat up as fast and when the fan comes on I can't tell because I can't hear it!

I installed this fan 2 months ago to replace the original fan which was creaking due to a bad bearing. I'm already hearing that this one is going bad and soon I'll have to replace it again.

Dell's CPU fan is $60 and this one is $10 but it's not $10. Three days after installing this fan (which took over an hour of my time) the fan began to rumble, often making loud grinding noises. So now I have to spend about an hour installing a new fan, the OEM version, and take the time to box up this #*@ thing and ship it back to the seller.

Not to scold the seller (because the seller probably doesn't know that there is a problem which is this type of fan designed for the Dell Inspiron 17 5000 fits) The series is too thin and often fails. I have replaced 3 defective fans in the last two years and the last one failed after two months. So I will recommend the buyer to buy another model that has this problem , but I wanted to warn other customers and techs about this laptop model and these particular types of fans.
