Transponder in key fob does not work too far from ignition to disable transponder protection as key fob needs to be rotated 90 degrees from its original position. Does not work on FJ Cruisers. . Cut the key before assembly. There is a small pin that holds the key to the turning mechanism. I had to remove the PIN to separate the key blank from the metal angle that rotates with the key so the key blank could be cut. Surprisingly easy to disassemble and assemble. Cutting the key costs a few dollars. Very happy with the product.

Worked great. It was a little difficult to put the spring button back on, but after some perseverance I got it back in place. You'll need a precision Phillips screwdriver for two screws, but it's very easy. Very happy with it. Oh, and Home Depot will cut the key for free.

This thing works exactly as it should. The negative reviews state that the small transponder in the main unit that houses the battery must not have been removed. This must be done. The small black transponder needs to be inserted into the slot closest to the top of the fob so it is close enough to the ignition slot to transmit the signal. The part works perfectly and appears to be durable. The time will show.

I bought this for my 2013 FJ Cruiser. As another reviewer said, FOB is too far from ignition as my car cannot start the engine. If I put this key in the ignition without a transponder and press the fob of the other key closer to the ignition, it works. It was almost a good idea, but it's delayed by about 3 cm. The transponder signal is not strong enough for the ignition receiver to work with the key. I had no problem cutting the key like the other reviewer had.

Pros: normal quality. Said the metal was too hard. Took them to a locksmith who said the metal was too soft. Cut out both. After watching a youtube video on how to change them specifically for the fj cruiser, it didn't help. My 2 key fobs only blocked the doors. Even if I swapped internal components. To turn on the transponder I got zilch. Even with the transponder and fob removed from my Toyota OEM key I was still able to turn the ignition on but not start (hence the transponder was removed. I
