NOT FOR Mac running Lion OS

KENSINGTON MUST DECLARE THAT THIS REPLICATOR WILL NOT WORK WITH NEW MAC. REFERENCES TO IPOD ETC. ASSUMED THAT THE PRODUCT IS UNIVERSAL IN AMAZON MARKETING, THERE WAS NO MENTION AT ALL THAT THE ONLY SOFTWARE INCLUDED WAS FOR WINDOWS. I BOUGHT THIS THING AND CAN'T USE IT. AMAZON SHOULD BE MUCH MORE EXPLICIT ABOUT SUCH PRODUCTS.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Obsolete Model

A great way to add more USB ports to your laptop

The best and most concise review that says almost everything is M. Thompson's USB Port Replicator. I have to admit that I had trouble getting the external speakers to work (so I plugged them into the laptop's 1/8" jack instead), but the USB port replicator works great and was the main reason why I bought this product. Used with Samsung R580. .

  • Pretty packaging

Good but no docking station

Laptop, I have a problem calling it a docking station. However, it bundles all your peripherals (mouse/keyboard/hard drive/internet) into one USB connection to your laptop. You still need to manually connect this one USB connection, as well as the video, power, and audio connections. 4 connections is still better than 8 or 10.

  • Free for educational purposes

Simply practical in the laptop accessory

For laptops that sometimes have to function as desktop computers, this makes the switch easier. As a USB hub, it works better than anything I've ever used. A key example is that other USB hubs often require my scanner to be unplugged and plugged directly into the computer before it is recognized. With this tool, each device becomes visible once the docking station is connected to the computer. The network connection also works fine, but is slightly slower than a direct Cat 5 connection to theโ€ฆ

I like it! about Notebook Accessories

I was very hesitant to purchase this product after reading many reviews, but after using this product for a few days, I really am not sure why there are so many negative reviews about this dock.laptop stations. Yes, there is no port for monitors, but the image and description of this docking station clearly shows what this docking station has to offer. I recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable docking station for USB devices etc. I use this docking station with my laptop without anyโ€ฆ

USB Port Replicator

Kensington SD100 Laptop Docking Station should probably be called "Laptop USB Port Replicator" because it's not a real docking station. Despite this, it is a great product that will satisfy the needs of most laptop users. The device connects to your laptop with a single USB cable and offers audio, network and five USB ports. It doesn't power your laptop (because it's a port replicator, not a docking station). It also doesn't offer PS/2 keyboard/mouse ports, so you'll need to use a USB mouse and

Works on Windows and Linux with Raspberry Pi!

This product has been running for over a year and works great with Windows 7 and 8.1. After seeing how easy it was to work on my Windows systems, I decided to give Linux a try. in the form of a Raspberry PI Zero. I tried Debian based "Wheezy" first and it works great! Plugged in network card and connected to websites, then I launched VLC and played the song and it worked without changing any settings. Then I tried the "Jessie" version and again the network worked fine and when I tried the sound

Pros
  • Few competitors

The only reason I bought it was to remove the wiring. While this works well, there are a few things to note: 1. The sound integration doesn't work. To get sound from your computer or external speakers, you must DISCONNECT the dock and connect it to your computer's regular outputs. If you try to connect audio directly to the dock, it fails all the time and gives you a headache.2. If you disconnect the docking station multiple times, there is no sound from the computer as it tries to send soundโ€ฆ

Got exactly what I expected

As mentioned in other reviews, this is not a real docking station and I am very happy with that fact. Real docking stations are made for specific laptops, usually corporate style, and cost well over $100. I work in IT and see them often. They charge the laptop, provide it with Ethernet and also offer a video output. I haven't found any decent USB docking stations that can support high definition video output as the USB 2.0 specification can't handle that kind of bandwidth. Perhaps USB 3.0 willโ€ฆ
