Description of 💻 Kensington SD7000 Surface Pro Docking Station: Ultimate Connectivity for Surface Pro 7, 7+, 6, Dual 4K Video Output (K62917NA)

Our SD7000 Surface Pro docking station was designed exclusively for Microsoft Surface Pro 7, 7+, 6, 5 and 4 using Windows 10; not compatible with Surface Pro 8. Comfortably position the surface Pro in one of two positions -- upright as a display, or lay it at a perfect drafting table angle for painting, drawing, or editing photos. Easily connect to different external monitor setups with output options for HDMI and DisplayPort multi-mode (one 4K monitor at 3840X2160@60Hz or two 4K monitors at 3840x2160@30Hz). Charges your Surface Pro and extends the desktop productivity capabilities via the Surface connector, 4 USB 3.0 Ports (up to 5Gbps, 5V/0.9a); 1 USB-C port for data synchronization (up to 5Gbps data only, 5V/3a); Gigabit Ethernet port. Secure the dock to a desk, table or any fixed structure via the Kensington Lock slot (T-Bar lock sold separately, see part #K65035AM); You can also secure the dock AND your Surface Pro with the optional lock module (part #K62918WW sold separately); see video to the left to see how the dock and locks operate.

Best I've ever used

I've only been using it for a week but I like it so far. I use it as a docking station with large monitors, but I certainly see the benefit of using it as a standalone smaller version of the studio. I love that it elevates the Surface to eye level, comparable to my secondary monitors. I've tried several different Surface docks including the Microsoft brand which works best for this. I'm giving 4 stars based on the price as it's a bit pricey for a docking station. I would have a hard time…

Great purchase / magnet on the side is the only downside.

Looks great! The Pro interface fits perfectly. Doesn't slip and the stand stays in place too. It is very durable when moved up and down and stays where you want it. The only thing is that the pen magnet is not always strong enough to hold. This is an easy fix and I hope the manufacturer can fix it. It doesn't slide off all the time, but it does fall off when I move the stand. Again, I hope they use a better magnet for this price. If this review helped you in any way, please don't forget to…

Essential Dock for Surface Pro

If you have a Surface Pro, this is the only dock to consider. I bought a Pro 3 four years ago with an old Microsoft dock that held the tablet at an angle. When Pro 4 came out they discontinued that dock and released a simple box with a few ports. It was a terrible decision and I was wondering what to do with the dock for my new Pro 6 when I saw this Kensington Dock. It's the perfect docking station for your Surface Pro. It does everything the old Microsoft dock did, with a little more port…

charge the battery.

Surface Pro 6 advertises with 13 hours of battery life. However, if you use this dock all the time, your battery will always be charged. This ultimately shortens the battery life of your Surface. You can disable the charging port. However, when you do this, you also disconnect all the cables you rely on to be productive. This product is easy to use and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I want to prevent my Surface from charging when the dock connector is connected.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

I have two Kensington docking stations. One for Surface Pro 4 and one for Surface Pro 5 (2017). Well built. Relatively expensive but more useful than the MS Surface Pro docks/boxes. Turns a Surface Pro 4 or 5 into a smaller version of Surface Studio. The Kensington lock system should have been included given the price. You'll also need to buy a compatible Bluetooth keyboard, since Surface Pro keyboards can't be used. When Surface Pro is docked, you cannot access the micro SD card. My Surface…

DO NOT waste your time and money! (Surface Pro 7)

I bought this dock for my Surface Pro 7. The design concept is actually pretty cool. And if it worked, that would be great. I noticed that this is a solid stand, it has some weight. The problem is when I got it it didn't work right out of the box. When I placed my Surface Pro in the charging dock, it wouldn't charge until I wiggled the charging cable on the back of the dock's base. Even then it only worked for a few days, more like a day actually. After that it stopped loading. Even when I…
