Discount Computer Components

As far as I can tell they are indistinguishable from official Foundation cameras and only cost 1/3 the price. I bought six of these and they all work great. They also fit snugly in the official Pi Zero cases (note that the mounting pins in the cover's "camera holes" are not symmetrical about the cover's short axis, so as with any Pi camera, you'll need to make sure the cover is properly aligned -- If it doesn't fit as expected, rotate the cap 180 degrees). My only complaint is that the camera…

NIce camera for Raspberry pi

The Keyestudio Raspberry Pi camera module was well packed without any damage. A ribbon cable is included, so we can connect this camera module to Raspberry Pi 3 2 B B+ A+ and Raspberry Pi Zero V1.3 model. I used this camera module with my Raspberry Pi Zero v 1.3 and it worked great. It recognized the camera immediately after I enabled the camera in the raspberry configuration window (raspi-config) and rebooted. When connecting the camera module to the Raspberry Pi, make sure the ribbon cable is

You need to modify the standard RPI Zero W case mount with heatsink

Took two for motioneyeos and connected them to a standard canakit. The heatsink pushes into the back and prevents the case from snapping into place. I sanded it down, you may have to remove some messages or flip the top, but it will work. Image quality isn't great, as expected, but is more than adequate for most situations. I also used some of that amber electronic tape to protect the camera from the heatsink to prevent a short from the bottom of the camera board touching the heatsink.

Pros
  • 2. For still images, the camera can produce still images with a resolution of 2592 × 1944 pixels.
Cons
  • Annoying

For a while I was disappointed that this camera was too far from the point of focus. I use it to time lapse 3D printed objects and the camera is less than a foot away from me which blurs the object while the opposite wall is in focus. Although the camera description says it's fixed focus, they said it doesn't have autofocus. The camera lens can be rotated to shift the focus point! The rest is regular Raspikam. You need to remove the sticker from the lens when you receive it. Also, for some…

Nice camera for Raspberry Pi

Keyestudio Raspberry Pi camera module was well packaged with no damage. B+ A+ and Raspberry Pi Zero V1.3. I used this camera module with my Raspberry Pi Zero v 1.3 and it worked great. It recognized the camera immediately after I enabled the camera in the raspberry configuration window (raspi-config) and rebooted. When connecting the camera module to the Raspberry Pi, make sure the ribbon cable is plugged in the wrong way round (the copper pins should point down towards the board). The video…

  • Electronics
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen

Works great with Raspbian. Color quality isn't as good as the v2 camera, but that's forgivable when you can get it for less than half the price. On the other hand, they deliver a better image than v2 in low light conditions. Difficult to use with a Pi Zero case. It snaps into the cover just like the v2 camera, but the tiny connector that connects the camera module to the camera board is disconnected each time. I put some foam between the case cover and the connector and that seems to hold it in
