    I bought this to replace a broken remote control for a 2012 Chevy Malibu. The website recommended contacting a local auto mechanic. Several phone calls to the locksmith made me realize I couldn't go another $60-80. The solution was simple, I opened up the old remote, removed the inside of the remote and put it in the new one. .     Done! Two working keychains again. I was looking to buy these to replace two broken key fobs as I figured it would be easy and free to program them on the machine. I found out that I would need an auto mechanic to program it, and that prompted me to dig in my tool box for a soldering iron to fix the broken battery mounts in my original key fobs.     I bought these to replace two 2008 original Malibu key fobs. The retailer charged $100 for the remote plus $60 for programming—$320 total!
