I would not recommend this as a gift unless you like someone. It worked when I tested it, upon delivery. Reuse and no longer works. Was placed on the counter away from anything that might cause it to stop working. If I spent money on it, it would be more useful than once. This is an item I will NOT purchase again.

Love this product for our Irish bar in our office. Green is a theme and we loved every aspect of it. I saw in the reviews that there were complaints about the colored haze being sprayed into the ball. It wasn't my experience at all. See my photos for more information. Our first plasma ball broke but was replaced and delivered quickly and easily. The company emailed to make sure there were no other issues! The product itself is great, I actually expected a cheaper quality and was surprised how well processed and good the plasma ball is. The glass bowl is very durable. I would buy this product again and give as a gift. my kids love it

It arrived quickly and was well packaged. BUT right out of the box the power button was a little wobbly which means you had to wiggle it somehow to actually turn it on. Now all of a sudden the switch won't even move, and no matter what I do, the damn thing just won't work. And of course that's outside of the warranty/refund window! + for shipping but otherwise full of junk.

I bought all 4. This wonderfully green lime. There are so many electric lightning fingers extending from the outside of the ball that it reminds me of dandelion seeds before they are blown away. These balls have a hazy appearance as the color is caused by the coating. It's not just the color of the glass. If you turn off the orb and look through it, it won't be colored, but will appear cloudy. When it's on, it's bright enough to stand out in a well-lit room. I am very happy with this purchase.

Maybe I don't get how it works so I still gave 4 stars for possible user error, but my son and I used different materials to see what attracted most to it. We put a paper towel between our hand and the globe and it burned our hand and set the paper towel on fire. We had fun experimenting and now I worry about the dangers involved. Definitely not something to let a child play alone. And again, maybe I don't understand how they work, but I didn't think it could catch fire.

The plasma sphere does not have as many electrical "arms" as shown in the picture, but it behaves like a normal plasma sphere. Green color is great. My 9 year old son loves it and has used it as a night light (I've read it can be left on overnight, it can just burn out like any lightbulb). night, it may bother someone. It has a protective coating on the glass so it doesn't get too hot if you don't use your hand for a long time. Generally a great thing.

I bought this for my grandson because he needed a plasma ball. After long phone calls with him, we agreed on it. They offered green and that's what he wanted. He arrived a few days ago. The product packaging was dented and damaged but the Amazon shipping box was not. I was looking forward to it and wanted to see it. What a disappointment! UPDATE: I bought this in September 2021. It's December 2021 and today it's not working anymore. I see many other reviews with this experience. I suppose if you need a plasma ball that will run for a month this might be for you, but if you need it to run for a while this probably isn't the case. I checked the AC output.
