KMC 6 Outlet Surge Protector Power Review

FIRE HAZARD! I hooked up a computer and monitor to this surge protector and after about an hour there was a loud bang, sparks flew and the surge protector blew. I smelled a surge protector but I opened it up to be sure and yes something in the surge protector was burned. See image.

The surge protectors seem solid and well built; Both turned on (the light on the switch) indicating they were protecting. The long cord was good as our outlets are offset from the wall allowing us to hide everything behind the TV stand. Let's see if they justify their advertising. They came with a product description in four languages and a thank you note.

Love it These KMC 6 surge protection outlet power strips work as advertised. In fact, I made the right choice with my purchase. Since they've been in use, they've worked flawlessly. I connected one to my 4K Smart TV and the other to my Deep-Freeze. This product was great. During a year. I got this for my new apartment last July. I always try not to fill more than half the sockets at a time to avoid overloading and last night it just stopped working. I thought my laptop charger cord was broken until I tried turning the lamp on and then realized it was a strip! Does not work on other outlets in the room. No surge protection click worked, just suddenly died. Considering the price I'm glad it lasted a year but shouldn't it have lasted longer?

There are no complaints about this surge protector. I like the black color and it works as expected. Two packs are really cheap. I use them with several PC computer setups and can't think of anything negative about them. I've seen fancier/more expensive surge protectors that have childproofing features that cover unused outlets. Since I have no children, I am not interested in this function.
