nice chain in Parts & Components

Just installed on my 6 speed Brompton. This is a narrow chain for narrow (9 speed) cassettes but so far it suits my application. The factory chain was marked SRAM with 7 Spd. The ratchet on the Brompton only has 2 teeth, so there is enough space for each chain. Bought this for the looks. Always had good luck with KMC chains.

Pros
  • Smooth running, hard finish, all ig'hg include missing links unless otherwise stated
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Great Chain: Drive train components

I love these chains. Not sure why I chose my first one, but they seem to last a little longer in sandy/dusty conditions (mountain biking and gravel road riding) than the Shimano and SRAM chains I've had. Maybe it's the cover. The gold color also makes it easier to spot a dirty chain and feel guilty - when I don't see the "gold" color anymore it's time to clean and lube.

Pros
  • Dropbuster configuration with larger chain plates for tuning and lapping
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Good as gold! Actually use at 8 speed!

I love this network! Nice color. I have an 8 speed MTB and couldn't find a gold 8 speed chain (yes I know the size difference) STILL WORKS GREAT! The smaller links in the 9-speed chain mean that the gears shift smoothly and the chain is less loose. With different speeds, you MUST keep the bike clean, otherwise you will get problems because of the size difference.

Pros
  • Brand new and ready to ship
Cons
  • Updates available

Expensive and poor bouncing under load - not compatible with Deore 3x9

I have a Shimano 3x9 Deore setup on my Niner and I bought this chain to replace my regular KMC X9 0.93, the is 1/3 the price of this high-tech beauty. Big mistake. I've only had problems with this chain. He was constantly jumping on gear, especially under load, like climbs. After spending several hours adjusting and even replacing the shifter cable and housing, I put the X9.93 back on and it was running smooth and smooth again.

Pros
  • Don't miss out on this great product
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Worth the price

Like most of us, if you ride long enough you will most likely choose a KCM chain. There the entire product is packed by value. The big question is that this chain costs around $50. My bottom line is absolutely yes, and here's why. Most chains will rust fairly quickly if not oiled. In order for the oil to adhere to the chain, it must contain an adhesion additive. This sticky substance keeps oil on the chain, but also attracts dirt. When you add sand to the oil, you get what's called a lapping…

Pros
  • Reinforced construction for durability
Cons
  • Not everything fits
