Worth the price

Like most of us, if you ride long enough you will most likely choose a KCM chain. There the entire product is packed by value. The big question is that this chain costs around $50. My bottom line is absolutely yes, and here's why. Most chains will rust fairly quickly if not oiled. In order for the oil to adhere to the chain, it must contain an adhesion additive. This sticky substance keeps oil on the chain, but also attracts dirt. When you add sand to the oil, you get what's called a lapping paste that effectively grinds your chain and everything else it comes in contact with to the point of failure. The better you lubricate the chain, the faster everything wears out. Believe it or not, this even seems to apply to so-called dry lubricants. Simple exam. Get a clean white tag and wipe down the chain after a few rides and when the tag turns black and dirty I've made my point. The KCM chain in question solved the rust problem by electroplating. No oil coating required. Now the chain needs to be lubricated. The answer is yes, but here comes the age-old problem of what to use. My conclusion: from day one, soak the new chain in hot, melted paraffin, let it cool down and install it. After cooling, the wax does not attract dirt, the side plates and rollers are well lubricated, and shifting is smooth and quiet. The cleanliness test confirms the cleanliness test during operation, and the use of a chain wear gauge over time confirms excellent lubrication. Since adopting this chain and maintenance protocol, chain links, cassette gears and derailleurs have lasted longer and there are no more greasy messes. Great network, check if it's worth it.
